Alto Lago di Como (North Lake Como), with its beautiful landscapes and numerous sporting activities, is the perfect destination for both adults and children. The territory of Alto Lario is a great place for the entire family, there are lots of ways to have fun together in the open air and to explore unique places.

North Lake Como is home to an array of water sports, with many sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing schools that organise courses and summer camps for children.

For those who want a beach holiday, this area has many free beaches where you can have fun, relax in the sun or splash around in the blue waters of the lake. A valid alternative to the beach are the outdoor swimming pools, which are also open during the summer season.

Two-wheel enthusiasts can instead ride with their children along the beautiful bike paths by the lake or go to nearby Valtellina and Valchiavenna along the “Sentiero Valtellina” and “Ciclabile Valchiavenna”.

North Lake Como offers nature lovers idyllic and wild landscapes. The Riserva Naturale Pian di Spagna e Lago di Mezzola is located where the Valtellina, Valchiavenna and Lake Como meet. It is the ideal place for leisurely walks immersed in nature, observing the rich birdlife. A mountain trip is always a great experience to share as a family. There are various trails that lead to enchanted valleys and beautiful waterfalls.

Another outdoor activity to try with your children is horseback riding. A horseback ride in the middle of nature or along the shores of Lake Como is an unforgettable experience for everyone.

Canyoning is the perfect activity for the more adventurous, where they can put their courage to the test. Otherwise, they can try their hand walking across Tibetan bridges, paths suspended between the trees and lianas at Lake Como Adventure Park

There are many playgrounds for younger children, with lots of slides, swings and seesaws where they can enjoy themselves in complete safety. 

North Lake Como is also full of historical and artistic attractions. For those who want to take a plunge into the past, the town of Colico is home to the ruins of the 17th century Fort Fuentes, the 19th century  Fort Montecchio Nord built at the beginning of the First World War and the medieval Tower of Fontanedo. Dervio is home to the Tower of the Orezia Castle and the hamlet of Corenno Plinio, whose castle dominates the picturesque medieval village. Worth visiting is also the End of the War Museum in Dongo, which tells the story of the Resistance movement on the lake and the end of the Second World War. Another museum to visit with your children is the Lake Como International Museum of Vintage Boats in Pianello del Lario, which collects more than 400 boats and navigation objects and instruments.
