This circular trail winds through farmland in the heart of the Reserve, eventually leading you behind the sedge and reed thickets that line the southern shores of Lake Mezzola and the small Lake Dascio. It begins in the town of Baletrone, near the Dubino train station. Follow the vertical signs through the farmland until you reach the Cascina Poncetta, a recently renovated rustic building with classrooms for both schoolchildren and tourists, as well as the Scientific Ringing Center. There are picnic spots in the surrounding garden. You can continue along the path immersed in the silence and colours of nature. In this stretch, the natural banks of the ancient Adda riverbeds are still clearly visible, characterised by small sandy mounds covered in vegetation, often used by foxes to build their dens. Keep an eye out for the great spotted woodpecker among the rows of poplars that border a section of the path; especially in spring, you might hear it drumming noisily on the trunks. Also, in Spring, beautiful yellow iris flowers bloom in the damp meadows around the stables in the town of Poncetta.
The second section of the path leads you into the mysterious world of the cane thicket, where you can observe some of its inhabitants.
