The Shrine of the Madonna di Mezza Crèsta is located in Livo, a small mountain village just above the “Pian dei Gorghi”; it’s a great example of devotion to Mary. It’s a small Christian temple dating back to the 1600s, also known as the Shrine of St. Anne or as “Santuario di Mezza Crèsta”; here, the 26 of July, they celebrate St. Anne during a festival, every year. Realized in baroque style, the shrine was built in the XVII century. The Livo's inhabitants wanted to keep the image of a "Madonna with Child", hailed as miraculous and frescoed in an ancient chapel, in proper conditions and that's why they built the oratory.
For over a century, the sanctuary has been one of the most important symbols of popular faith in Alto Lario area and a point of reference for many pilgrims. Inside the sanctuary there is also an eighteenth-century organ of excellent workmanship by Andrea Albiolo.
