The picnic area is at the bottom of the old Ponte del Passo bridge, a structure made of wood and iron built in the 1880 used until 1938 and which substituted the ancient boat river crossing.
Go along the Cycle track which goes parallel along the straight main SP4 road; when you get to Poncetta (6) go first left and then right down via Baletrone, a rough track which goes in between the fields. 
Go straight at the cross roads immediately after the Picnic area (7) (signposted “Cascina della Poncetta”); from here onwards you can see small sandy lumps, often used by foxes to build their dens, which were part of the bed of the Adda river. You pass by the side of the isolated farm building of the Poncetta, belonging to the Pian di Spagna nature reserve and is used as a information centre and base for monitoring birds and then you arrive near the canneto (8), a delicate place that provides protection for the many species of birds, reptiles invertibrates, amphibians and a colony of deer (The visit to the canneto is only possible accompanied by a guide). Turn left onto the Track which you can just see through the large grasses passing by the side of the Cascina Spavioli and follow the track on the left hand side which takes you back to the crossing with the round signpost (7); from here turn right and go back along the road to get to the picnic area.
