How to get there
To get to Dangri by car: take the SS340 Regina state road to Gravedona ed Uniti, turn right on SP4 Provincial Road in the direction of Peglio, Livo and Dosso del Liro (if coming from Dongo, turn left). Continue for 2.5 km until you arrive at the crossroads, turn right following the signs for Livo. Once in Livo, take the road on the left following the signs for Dangri. After about 20 minutes you reach Dangri, where you can park in the square just before the “crotto” (grotto) or in an open space at the edge of the last stretch of road. Please note: to get to Dangri by car, you will need a daily access ticket (€ 3.00), which can be purchased at an automatic ticket machine outside the town hall in Livo. Make sure to clearly display the ticket on the dashboard of your car. The road alternates between dirt tracks and paved roads.
You can also get to Livo by bus, C18 Dongo-Livo line operated by the ASF Autolinee bus service. Then walk to Dangri following the signs for the “Via dei Monti Lariani” (about 1 hour).

A small alpine lake with clear waters embedded between granite massifs and jagged ridges. A wild and unspoilt valley crossed by the profile of some waterfalls and beautiful woods. Lake Darengo is situated at the top of the valley of the same name, at the foot of Pizzo della Gratella (2230 m), Pizzo Campanile (2458 m), Sasso Bodengo (2410 m) and Pizzo San Pio (2304 m). The evocative charm of the landscape will make you forget the effort and the length of the climb.

Route
Once in Dangri, before the Crotto, turn right and cross the picturesque bridge, and then go left along the mule track that leads to Baggio. Go through the chestnut grove and head towards the Sanctuary of Sant’Anna, keep to the right following the path of the Via Crucis. Continue climbing until you reach the pastures of Baggio (970 m) and then head left along a narrower path that enters the valley. Along the way you will pass some streams until you reach the mountain huts of Borgo (1055 m). From here, the trail follows the Darengo stream, crosses a beech wood and comes out among the meadows near a bridge leading to the Rifugio Pianezza refuge(1252 m). Continue climbing, keeping to the left of the stream, until you get to Alpe Darengo (1380 m). Turn right towards the entrance of the valley, go up the path that winds through the woods until you reach a quite steep uncovered rocky stretch, which leads to the Rifugio Avert Darengo (1774 m) and a bit further on to Lake Darengo and Capanna Como (1790 m).
Go back via the same path that you came up on.
