The pride of Menaggio is its promenade that offers a unique view of the center of the lake.
Menaggio has ancient origins as evidenced by the beautiful villas, including Villa Belfaggio, Villa D'Azeglio, Villa Govone and Villa Vìgoni, located in the residential area of Loveno.
One of the town's most noteworthy churches is the polygonal Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peace (in the hamlet of Nobiallo) built in 1660.
The mountains that surround Menaggio offer wonderful hiking possibilities. The walk from Breglia to “Rifugio Menaggio”, for example, is without a doubt an emotional experience for both skilled mountaineers and beginners.
Villa Vigoni
Villa Mylius Vigoni, located in Loveno di Menaggio, was purchased in 1829 by Heinrich Mylius fascinated by its wonderful location and the enchanting view of Lake Como.
The vast English garden, designed by Giuseppe Balzaretto, surrounds the villa and offers a natural and environmental setting of rare beauty. The garden paths lead visitors to marble statues, fountains, inscriptions and small memorials.
The villa is now owned by the German Federal Republic and seat of the German-Italian cultural center.
