Monte Lungo

Monte Lungo

Menaggio | Carlazzo | Cavargna 500-1000 m 2-4 hours

Approach
Menaggio - Carlazzo - Cavargna (frazione Vegna) - If possible go for Monti Collio (there is a little chance of parking).

Route
Go through the small inhabited; before entering the woods, turns sharply to the left toward West on a old military road. When you arrive to the nucleus of "Monti della Pianca" (1353 m), you go to the East, to a large sunny ridge and you climb up under the peak. The top should be reached on foot because is short but is too sharp and steep.
From the top you can see much of the territory of the Swiss Val Morobbia, the lakes of Lombardy and the Central Alps.
Descent by the same route of the ascent.

Notes
Sometimes to reach the top you need ice axe and crampons.

Warnings
Check the weather forecast before starting your skiing.
Take with you the avalanche safety equipment: shovel, transceiver and probe. If you don’t know how to use them ask to the Mountain Guides.
