Molino Maufet is located in the hamlet of Villatico in Colico, near the Sentiero del Viandante (Wayfarer’s Path) and along the route of the Antica Roggia Molinaria, which begins in Fontanedo, the town’s first settlement dating back to the 12th century. Molino Maufet was founded during this time.
The millers' living quarters and the historic Casa Amalia have been carefully restored to create six inviting lodgings: Il Granaio, Casa Amalia, La Volta, Il Fienile, Alle Macine, and La Roggia. The restoration work was carried out in a sustainable manner, reusing and relocating original materials where possible and adopting smart energy-saving technologies.
Tillo and Tilla, two black-and-white cats, welcome guests to the large 4,000-square-metre garden. They share the lawn with bees and other pollinating insects buzzing among lavender bushes, daisies, and a centuries-old Lebanese cedar. A small swing hangs from the branch of a pear tree. Towering over them all is Monte Legnone, which, at 2,609 metres, is the highest peak in the western sector of the Orobian Alps. While Valgorga, the lowest snowfield in Europe, can be found at 750 meters.
