The name “crotto” originates from the Italian word “grotta” (cave), which was used at the time as a cellar to store products because its unique structure provided a constant airflow at temperatures ranging from 7 to 10 degrees Celsius, known locally as “sorel.” Today, the crotto has evolved beyond its original function as a cellar and features a panoramic terrace with wooden tables overlooking Lake Como. Guests can enjoy a selection of traditional local dishes, such as regional meats and cheeses, polenta uncia, mixed grilled meats, pizzoccheri (by reservation), braised beef and tripe, all accompanied by excellent home-made wine. The venue is open only during the warmer months (from late April to early November) and is perfect for couples and larger groups alike. Additionally, there's a spacious garden area that offers a few extra seats for guests.
With its friendly and relaxed atmosphere, the crotto guarantees that guests will feel right at home!
